I'd like to get a computer to play games on. I'm not sure if the type of games matter, but I like Sims-type games, but also CSI games and games where you can be a veterinarian or take care of pets. (I have varying interests...) I don't care if it's a laptop or desktop. Does anyone know what a computer would cost that could play these types of games? The games you mentioned are not graphic intense so a 1,500 - 2,000 dollar computer is definitely not needed. I recommend getting a laptop over desktop because then you have more mobility and it takes up less space. Max amount I would go for a laptop would be $700 or less.

Are games of chance in which no gambling is involved halal?
My workplace is having a social event, in which they will have soft drinks, snacks, and gambling type games. They will be handing out prizes, but the attendees do not pay anything.
What are the rulings on playing games of chance? Is a Muslim allowed the same chance of accepting randomly distributed gifts as a non-Muslim, or must we oppose the games because they are associated with gambling, which is haram?Are games of chance in which no gambling is involved halal?
By default, everything is Halal in Islam - Unless specified in Qur'an and / or Hadith as Haram.
1. The gifts they are distributing should be halal
2. The game should be not a promotion for some haram product or organised by any anti-Islamic organisation
3. There should be no intermingling of sexes in that event
4. The event should be not a breeding ground of gossips, lies and abuses.
5. And finally the event should not be during the times of 5 prayers so that people will prefer the event rather than a prayer..

Demon's Souls is somewhat similar, but you actually have to aim with a bow, like a TPS, and it's a little less exploration and a lot more linear. If you want the focus of looting or big worlds/quests go with Borderlands, but that is a FPS, not a hack and slash... Still amazing though. That's all I can think of though

oblivion is good hard game and the story is hard to beat totally different from cod6 it's not like pokemon but it is diffidently a good RPG
Many many good RPG's if you are looking for time consuming RPG's you will want Fallout 3 70+ hours for one playthrough. But there is no running you can teleport after you find all 150 locations but you will end up spending some money on dlc for the game.
Oblivion is a good RPG Not easy on achievements and very, very time consuming I never made it through the game.
Borderlands is a RPG that game is absolutley amazing but again you will have to by DLC for all achievements, you can also get modded guns for the game which make it fun. This game took me about 15 hours for the first playthrough with a friend.
Mass Effect. Amazing game 64 hours for my first playthrough I had achievements glitch on me so I never finished the game. It is a HUGE game and if you do not install it to your hard drive you will end up having to restart your xbox after a few hours of gameplay it will slow down a lot.

I'm having a party next month for my son's first birthday. I'm expecting about 30 adults and maybe 2 kids besides my own.
I'm trying to come up with games adults can play for a prize.
The party will be hosted at a sit-down restaurant and the party is scheduled to last 3 hours. This includes time alotted for eating dinner, dessert, and opening gifts.
First, I'm thinking of having a jar full of candy. Whoever is closest to guessing how many pieces of candy is in the jar wins the jar.
My other idea is to have a questionairre type game. I'll have a list of questions about the baby (how much did he weigh at birth? How old was he when he slept through the night? etc, etc) Whoever gets the most right wins the prize.

at my school we have a freshmen mentor program where we meet with a group of about 10-12 freshmen. RPG: Very hard, you mentioned all the latest and greatest so I suggest Lost Odyssey for the X-Box 360.
Shooter: Hands down Call of Duty 6 for either the PS3 or 360
Sport: Smackdown Vs RAW 2008 or 2010, not 2009 for 360. If you don't like wrestling then Fifa 2010 for either the PS3 or 360.

I spent hours playing with the jet and heli alone.

Best dragon and mutant slaying game.) Kind of a fantasy game, but having the M rating changes a lot for its gameplay.

Ahh, you have discovered that boys and girl are different, and in so many ways, it's hard to list, or actually to long.
Boys, play with toy soldiers, trucks. toy guns etc, girls play with their barbies and play house, and dress up their dolls. That's just in our natures.
I know a girl, rather a woman, who loves those shoot 'em up games, but she's still very feminine.
So some girls will enjoy that games, but I suspect, most girls won't.

Ahh, you have discovered that boys and girl are different, and in so many ways, it's hard to list, or actually to long.
Boys, play with toy soldiers, trucks. toy guns etc, girls play with their barbies and play house, and dress up their dolls. That's just in our natures.
I know a girl, rather a woman, who loves those shoot 'em up games, but she's still very feminine.

One of my favorite baby shower games...
You take baby food jars and number them and take the labels off. Then all of your guests are to guess what each baby food is by looking at the jar. Not opening them. Don't forget to have an answer sheet where you write down the number along with the food. (Hint: It has to be the jar food, the plastic Gerber containers have the name of the food printed on the side of the container).
You could do a word scramble.
Another good one is where you take condiments anything from your fridge and put it into a diaper. Then you number them and have guests smell them and try to identify the condiment. This game can also be played by putting melted mini candy bars in the diapers and by looking at the "poo" the guest guess what type of candy is in the diaper.
Take the baby safety pins and hand one to each guest. Anytime they are caught saying the word baby they have to give the person catching them their pin.
Take index cards and on the back write numbers 1-18. One number per card. Pass one card to each guest. The guest is to write advice to your little one, the number being the age of the child. If you run out of cards just start over add another set of 1-18. At my sisters shower we gave Mom advice for ages 1-5 beings the child wouldn't really understand the advice. This is also makes an awsome keepsake for the baby book!
There is a game like price is right where you take different baby products and have the guest guess the price of each item. At the end we always donate the baby items to the Mommy to be.

Hi, I'm looking for a computer game that simulates driving- not racing type games, but actual practical skills for the road. Preferrably one where you can buy a wheel and pedals to make the experience more realistic. Are there any good mystery games for the Nintendo Wii?
I currently play Agatha Christie games %26amp; Nancy Drew games on the PC but I hate how slow they make my PC. If I could get these type games for the Wii then I would eliminate the issue. I love any type of mystery game where you have to work through and solve various puzzles and talk to people to solve the problem. Steam is created by Valve (the creators of Portal, Half-Life, and Team Fortress) and is meant to be a game distribution network. You can download bought games from your Steam account to any computer with the Steam software (which is a free download). Steam also has tons of free demos so you can try before you buy. The best part is games that are on Steam remove the DRM that comes from the commercial version of the game (example would be Spore).

An elementary school game that teaches typing skills with dragons or dinosaurs?
I used to play this game in elementary school in the late 90s and I can't recall the name of it. It was a typing skills game and you had to type the right letters to free the dinosaurs or dragons. Time Splitters 2, Time Splitters: Future Perfect, Red Faction 2 (for multilayer), Socom: U.S Navy Seals, 'Hitman: Blood Money' is definitely a 'must have'; and maybe 'Hitman: Contracts' or ''Silent assassin (I've heard they're good).
I've also heard that 'Mercenaries:Playground of Destruction' and 'Operation Snow Blind' are pretty good shooters.
I should also mention 'Metal Gear Solid 3: Subsistence' which is one of the best, but good luck getting it; It's probably one of the rarest games on PS2, I suggest looking for 'Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater' instead (which is almost the same).
As far as 'must have' titles in general:
Okami
GTA: San Andreas (and to a lesser extent Vice city)
Ratchet and Clank: 2/3/gladiator
God of War 1 and 2 (especially 2)

It's not so much a game like those, but Simple Physics is very fun. It makes you create structures, and then they are put through some kind of stress. If you made the structure well enough to stay in tact, you pass the level. In one level, you have to make a "submarine" and then it is submerged in deep water. The water pressure is heavy on all sides, so you have to make a structure that distributes the force and stays together. Fun game. :DPhysics type games like Angry Birds or Cat Physics for the Iphone?
