Cost for decent computer to play games on?

I'd like to get a computer to play games on. I'm not sure if the type of games matter, but I like Sims-type games, but also CSI games and games where you can be a veterinarian or take care of pets. (I have varying interests...) I don't care if it's a laptop or desktop. Does anyone know what a computer would cost that could play these types of games? The games you mentioned are not graphic intense so a 1,500 - 2,000 dollar computer is definitely not needed. I recommend getting a laptop over desktop because then you have more mobility and it takes up less space. Max amount I would go for a laptop would be $700 or less.
