I know there's online typing games and lessons, but does anyone have a secret method they would like to share....I need to improve but I just can't seem to do it at an ideal rate.Anyone have any tips on improving typing speed?
I failed typing class, but over time I've drastically improved just by typing so often (at every job I've had). I now type 85 wpm.
One suggestion I'd make is to type the alphabet abcdefg... etc. Then, you can identify which letters you struggle with and can focus on practicing those more. Something that really helped me keep my fingers on the correct keys (and avoid those "crossovers" in the middle) was getting an ergonomic keyboard. Since there's a large space in between both sides, I would find myself trying to cross over with one of my index fingers and hitting the middle! It helped me to be able to type without the need to look at the keyboard so much.
It's no secret! All it takes is lots of practice. Don't look at the keys, though, because that will slow you down. Try doing it with your eyes shut, or just by looking at whatever it is that you're typing. Good luck!Anyone have any tips on improving typing speed?
No overnight secret method here, I'm sorry to say. What it takes is practice, practice and more practice. I used to type with only two fingers but, over the years and through necessity, I have advanced to using many more fingers and thus greatly improved my speed.
Try transcribing a favourite book ... at least you will enjoy reading the book while you practice! Also, try not to look down and watch the keyboard as you type ... this slows you down.Anyone have any tips on improving typing speed?
Just practice. I took a typing class and it was hard for me to learn. I eventually learned by chatting and being more active on the computer doing things that interest me rather than looking at a book and doing what the book says.
once i put stickers on my keys hiding the letters, it kinda worked
typer shark. it's a free online game and it's fun.
