I'm new to gaming and have recently acquired a ps2. Can anybody recommend good adventure type games please

I played Monkey Island on my pc a few years ago and loved that i also loved sonic the hedgehog in my youth. I tried playing Lord of the rings last night but got really bored so it looks like I'm not really into fighting games. I'd love a game that you get lost in where you can walk around and discover things and talk to characters and solve riddles maybe collect things. The Harry Potter games are excellent for adventure, and so is The Hobbit.

Maybe you could try the game Harry Potter. It is really fun. It is adventurous. I think that you would like it.
FINAL FANTASY X!! this game still makes me tear.. the story is just so rich and it was named and voted to be just as good as ff7.. avoid ffx-2 its blows and totally ruins the story of ffx. try ico and shadow of the colossus, both games are simple yet they pull you into the character also you can finish both games in a day. the best action/adventure games to date are still the devil may cry series. go for devil may cry 3 its the prequel and the most fun and hard as hell game you will ever play. dark cloud 2, this game isnt very widespread but its very VERY entertaiming.. you get to make your own weapons, robots, villages, etc, from stuff you collect in dungeons and the art work is somewhat cartoonish so its a great all age game also. to recap

oh and kingdom heart 1 and 2 if you want to go down memory lane while still kicking butt
dont judge all combat oriented adventure games off of lord of the rings. i would recomend the jak and daxter or ratchet and clank series. legacy of kain is also pretty good. mind bending story, but he games on PS2 are quite short. god of war if you're of age, and so many other, indigo prophecy is awesome. its a movie made for the PS2, but you have control over the characters. you have
i don't know how old you are so i am going to assume you are old enough, i recommed god of war 1 god of war 2, metal gear soild(ps1), metal gear soild 2, metal gear soild 3, metal gear solid 4(ps3), devil may cry, devil may cry 2, devil may 3, devil may cry 4 (360,ps3) all of these are great action adventure games, all of them are 5/5
