Is it True Everything Typed, Games played, Sites visited, all in memory on the computer?

so say if i typed something 3 months back, would it still be programmed in memory ont he computer?

is every keystroke recorded by the computer? and if so, is there anyway to delete the keystrokes from the past?Is it True Everything Typed, Games played, Sites visited, all in memory on the computer?
Well not everything you do is stored on your hdd. In fact most tasks are stored as volatile memory on your systems RAM, and when you close out of a program the majority of that information is removed. Turning your machine off or rebooting wipes it clean. Things that will save to your hdd are as follows. The websites you visit save to your computer in several different ways 1: the URL to the site is saved in your browsing history folder 2: cookies are picked up from websites and stored in a cookies folder all to help your system perform well on those sites 3 plug-ins and active x controls (only IE uses these horrid active x scripts) are also stored on your computer in the temporary internet files folder. All three of these can be erased from your system by accessing your internet options under the tools menu. I don't know if your talking about games being played on the internet or offline, but yeah they will save to your system. They will offline if you so choose to save or have it save automatically. Many online games will just place cookies on your system, but there are games that will require you to add a plugin or active x control. Some online games even give you the option of saving your progress for future play. That progress is stored in the temporary internet files folder also.
Not keystrokes, but everything you opened/viewed/wrote...is! If anyone tells you otherwise...I can assure you that they are wrong! Unless you complete a low level format it is all recoverable. Is it True Everything Typed, Games played, Sites visited, all in memory on the computer?
No, key strokes are not saved unless a keylogging program is installed on the computer. If you used something like MSN chat or other chat programs, they can be set to keep a log of everything typed.

Sites visited are kept in history. Just hit CNTL+H, right click on history folder and choose "delete"Is it True Everything Typed, Games played, Sites visited, all in memory on the computer?
Absolutley not. PCs do not have built in keyloggers.

Best way is to NOT use Internet Explorer ever as to not integrate your info into windows. And use Firefox instead, and use the Clear private data option with all the options selected.

If your really paranoid you can always rebuild windows and start off fresh using Firefox from the start.
agree with sam and sakon. jaz is just plain wrong - clearing history does not erase all your internet tracks. yoseppi's answer is incomplete: The whole equation referred to above changes if your computer is on a network.

A network administrator can log everything you do online without needing to install anything on your machine. The keystroke aspect is complex, but suffice to say if you are on a network and are answerable for your internet use, you should be very careful. summary dismissal is a common practice for internet misuse these days.

There are heaps of ways of surveiling a machine if you know how, and the person may have no idea of it.

You have a lot of reading to do if you want to protect your privacy online. suggest you start with google as the detail is more complex than can be adequately covered here.
